Aluminum-framed modular buildings are designed to be fast, flexible, and efficient. Because they are prefabricated and don’t rely on standard foundations, the installation process is dramatically faster than with conventional builds.
Each structure arrives on-site in pre-engineered frame sections, with roof and wall components ready to be assembled. Once the base is prepared, the process of anchoring the frame, installing the roof, adding walls, and fitting doors and windows can take as little as a week for smaller buildings. After the shell is complete, interior features such as mezzanine floors, racking systems, HVAC, and electrical installations can be added as needed.
Compared to traditional methods, modular aluminum buildings are not only faster to install but also require less heavy machinery and are far more economical.
Traditional Construction vs. Aluminium Modular Buildings
Steel Structures
Steel buildings are much heavier, which means they require deep foundations and the use of cranes and heavy lifting equipment. Positioning steel sections accurately is labor-intensive, weather-dependent, and time-consuming. In contrast, aluminum profiles are lighter, easier to handle, and can be erected with smaller lifting gear—even in less favorable weather.
Block-Built Structures
Blockwork construction is even slower. Every wall must be laid brick by brick, often requiring materials to be stored on-site for long periods. Aluminum modular frames, on the other hand, can be installed immediately after delivery, without the delays caused by blockwork or foundation curing times.
Foundation-Free Flexibility
One of the biggest advantages of aluminum modular buildings is that they don’t require traditional foundations. With specialized anchoring systems, they can be installed on a wide range of surfaces—including existing concrete lots, asphalt, or even grass. Each site is assessed in advance to determine the most suitable anchoring method.
Do Modular Buildings Require Permits?
Yes. In the U.K., any structure larger than 2,150 square feet (200 m²) that remains in place for more than 28 days requires planning permission. The approval process typically takes 8 to 13 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project. Working with experienced planning consultants makes the process smoother. We partner with specialist planners who have a strong track record of securing approvals for our clients.
How Long Does Manufacturing Take?
Production times vary depending on the size and design of the building, but delivery is usually within four to six weeks of placing an order. Manufacturing takes place at our headquarters in Germany, with components shipped directly to the installation site. For projects outside Europe—in regions such as the U.S., Asia, or Australia—local stock supplies are also maintained to reduce lead times.
How Long Can They Be Used?
Although referred to as “temporary,” these buildings are anything but short-lived. With proper maintenance, aluminum modular structures can remain in service for many years. They’re perfect for short-term projects such as seasonal storage but are equally well-suited as a long-term solution for manufacturing, warehousing, or business expansion.
When no longer needed, the buildings can be dismantled, resold, relocated, or fully recycled—making them a truly sustainable investment.
